Belfield house , a grade 2 listed georgian mansion was built by Isaac Buxton , {my direct ancestor }in approx 1790 . His grandson , my great gt,gt,gt grandfather Sir Thomas Fowell Buxton married Hannah Gurney sister of Elizabeth Fry { quaker prison reformer ]and became famous as an anti slave trade campaigner . They are all pictured on the old 5 pound note . A series of chance meetings led me to visit this house {now a private residence } whereupon i made this drawing which will hopefully benefit the Thomas Fowell Buxton society .
